In order to recognize and further encourage excellence in the fields of Environmental Improvement, Promotion of Environment Awareness, Management Development, Innovation, or Modernisation of Operating Technology and for Promotion of Entrepreneurship and Excellent Performance as New Entrepreneur in Eastern India following Awards have been instituted by the Chamber.

B. P. PODDAR MEMORIAL AWARD
Instituted in the year 1985, the Award for Environmental Improvement/Awareness is given for outstanding contributions to Institutions/Individual for effective control of environmental pollution and creation of awareness. Each Award is of a value of Rs.100,000 in cash along with presentation of a Plaque and a Certificate of Merit to the individual, institution, firm or corporation to be adjudged on a national basis by the Jury, on the basis of applications / nominations received from individuals, recognised research/education/professional institution/ business establishment in India.

R. N. BANGUR MEMORIAL AWARD
The Award for Management Development is given to encourage the budding managers for their leadership capabilities and outstanding performance and excellence in Business Management. Each Award is of a value of Rs.100,000 in cash along with presentation of a Plaque and a Certificate of Merit to an individual, institution, firm or corporation to be adjudged on a national basis by the Jury, on the basis of applications / nominations received from individuals, recognised research/education/professional institution/ business establishment in India. This Award was instituted in the year 1984.

BAIJNATH BHIWANIWALLA MEMORIAL TROPHY
The Trophy for promotion of new entrepreneurship is given in recognition of outstanding performance to new entrepreneur covering both first as well as second generation entrepreneurs in Eastern India. This Award carries a revolving Trophy and a Certificate of Merit. The Trophy was instituted in 1985.

These Awards have been instituted by the Chamber with the benevolent support of the Donor Members about two decades back. Over the years, the Chamber has made modest attempt to encourage professionals to further refine their activities. Bharat Chamber of Commerce is a pioneer in instituting Awards and is the only Chamber of Commerce in Kolkata which has been giving Awards of excellence in its pursuit to further industrial development through improvement of managerial functioning, environmental improvement and awareness and entrepreneurship development.
